The Istituto Istruzione Superiore “S. Satta” is a Technical and Vocational state secondary school, with course studies on Finance, Marketing, Tourism, Mechanics, Electronics, Fashion Designs, Structural engineering. The school is attended by about 800 students and 100 teachers work there. Our school is located in a social context characterized by a strong economic crisis and therefore it has to face difficult situations in the cultural, social and educational fields. There is a consistent number of students with little motivation and poor background. They lack cultural stimulus, chances of cultural growth, and comparisons with the external world. Unfortunately Sardinia records the highest number in Italy of early school leaving and for this reason the island’s political board has financed a programme of educational strengthening by hiring teachers to help weak students and assigning to every school a psychologist and a pedagogist to give moral and psychological support to all school members. The efforts of all the teachers are addressed to teach the values of tolerance, respect, cultural and social growth. At the same time we give them the necessary instruments to gain better school results and be able to become accomplished citizens. All our classrooms are equipped with smart boards and internet access, and the students spend most of their school time in the different labs, according to their course of study. Our goal to enhance the students’ chances to open their mind, practice a foreign language and experiment alternative activities has stimulated our willingness to internationalization by participating to various international projects. Our institute has a long tradition of multilateral partnerships, foreign stages, and international activities with the different European countries, with the active involvement of school staff and learners. We are a school open to any kind of initiative that can contribute to widen its International dimension, thus enriching its teaching quality and the cultural and professional background of teachers and learners. Our pupils have done work experience activities in England, Spain and Ireland. No need to say how this project will meet our goals. The school can rely on the teachers of foreign languages and related subjects like Geography, History, Law, ICT, Art, Cultural Studies, Science, many of them working in former exchanges. Omar Lobina graduated in Biotechnology and attended a PhD. Stefania Uda Deputy Head and ICT and Multimedia Design teacher. She has a long experience of CLIL methodology and experimental teaching. She has benefited from two Erasmus fundings, and attended structured courses in London. Fabiola Bottigliero (English) had acquired a long experience as teacher and benefited from Erasmus fundings (structured courses, + jobshadowing activities) and previous Comenius programs.
